About The BB71 Wood Baseball Bat:

Just starting to swing a full-sized wood bat, coming up from our DR100 youth bat, or just wanting a little more bat speed?

The BB71 is the lightest of the Phoenix wood bats with a length-to-weight difference of -3. Rock maple, northern white ash, or yellow birch, the BB71 professional series wood baseball bat (known in other circles as the C271) is great for the singles and doubles hitter. It features a slightly flared handle transition in to the knob and a barrel that gives this wood bat nice pop to slap it in to the gaps. It’s a really good fit for the prototypical lead-off, second and ninth hitter in the line-up.

Typical user:

  • Singles/doubles hitter; typically 1, 2, 9th batter in line-up 
  • Player taking the first step into a high school/adult bat after swinging a youth bat. 
  • Wants to insure keeps maximum bat speed while still putting on muscle

    Excellent finish and quality, I have regularly been buying bats in sets of two to transition my son to the next size up. The Phoenix bats have been outstanding assisting with his strength and transition., Teammates parents keep asking how he moves up so well and fast with the difference in length and weight. I usually get the same length (same drop as aluminum/BBCOR) and the next one up in length. The wood are more dense so even the same L/W of the aluminum feels a little heavier swinging. It has been an awesome experience being able to see him move through bats lengths so quickly. He does not have a big frame, very thin so the Phoenix bats have really helped him move up quickly.

    Love this, truly. Quality work, great finish, customized and matches what you see online, only maybe better when in person/in hand. Really sharp piece. Almost hate to take it to the cage but nothing beats that wood-bat sound on the ball.

    Phoenix Bats provides excellent wood bats. Its weighted perfectly and helps me to do what I do best… hit singles with a sprinkle of doubles.

    Sons first baseball purchase

    This was my sons first big baseball purchase with his own money and the assistance from the staff and walking him through was first class. Treated him as an adult and not a kid and nailed the look my son wanted. He is so proud of it he’s now not wanting to use it, but it will be used.

    Love my new bat

    For my birthday, my mom and dad said I could go to Phoenix bats and design my own bat. It was so cool. We worked with a guy named Brad and he asked me a few questions about how I hit the ball and let me swing a couple sample bats. I created a bat with a natural handle and charcoal gray stain on the barrel. I have been able to hit with it while working with my hitting coach, and I love it. It’s so easy to swing and the sound is the best! I plan to stick with Phoenix Bats because they make the bats right here in Columbus and the people are really nice there.

    3rd bat I've purchased for my rising Junior who's a 1,2,9 hole hitter. Couldn't be happier with the feel and sound. Quality bat at an affordable price with a quick turnaround for a weekend wood bat tournarment. Highly recommend!!!

    This purchase was a replacement after the first bat broke in practice. The replacement birch bat was used in the next U-14 game and my son was able to hit the right field fence. The balance and bat speed he can generate makes this an excellent bat as players transition from BBCOR to wood bats.
